Gemotions

The morning sun cast a warm glow across Emily's face as she awoke. She'd finally mustered the courage to audition for the school play, and that morning she was to find out if she got the part. She moved through the room with a quick, purposeful energy. That joyous feeling abruptly vanished when she noticed her journal. It was askew.

A coldness settled in her chest.

She saw her roommate, Jessica, already dressed and ready to go. "Morning!" Jessica chirped cheerfully.

Emily managed a weak smile.

Later, in the library, Emily found herself unable to focus, the script felt heavy in her hands.
