Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she sliced strawberries, a wide smile plastered on her face. Today was the day. She'd finally finish building that low fence, the one that *should* keep Buster, the rambunctious golden retriever, out of her prize-winning petunias.

She'd watched Buster again yesterday, bounding across the lawn like a furry comet. Another escape. Another trip to the vet, she imagined, to get that pesky microchip read. She'd left a note on the neighbor's door. This time, she would succeed. She could feel it in her bones.

Later, as she hammered the final post into the ground, a light breeze rustled the leaves. She felt a lightness in her chest, a sense of lightness. She imagined the quiet mornings to come, her blooms undisturbed, Buster happily contained in his own yard. It almost made her want to dance.
