Gemotions

The auditorium was nearly empty save for him. Leo fidgeted in his seat, the plush velvet scratching at his skin. He heard the opening bars of “Echoes of Yesterday,” his most personal song. He had written it during his darkest days. He felt his pulse quicken.

A young violinist, eyes closed in concentration, poured emotion into the melody. His jaw relaxed, and a smile played on his lips. She captured the ache, the yearning, the very essence of the song. A sense of lightness filled him, as though a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

He leaned back in his chair, feeling a sense of satisfaction. It was working. All of it.
