He bounced on the balls of his feet, anticipation thrumming through him. Liam had promised himself he'd finally go through his grandfather’s old albums. Today was the day. He pulled the leather-bound book from the bottom shelf, the cover smelling of age and forgotten stories.

A picture of his grandfather, arms slung around two grinning women, was tucked between the pages. "He never left the farm," Liam's mother had always said. He'd never married, she’d declared with a sigh.

Liam leaned forward, his pulse quickening. The women's dresses were unlike anything he'd seen before, the setting a bustling city street. A thrill raced through him, making him want to know more, to understand. He felt this surge of energy that made him smile.
