"Excellent!" said Mark, his voice booming. He slapped the eviction notice on the kitchen counter, then rubbed his hands together. The document was a harbinger of change, a liberating shift in direction. He'd been wanting to shake things up for months.

He immediately called his best friend, his voice brimming with excitement as he described the myriad of opportunities that were suddenly open to him. He was ready to live in a new city. He was ready for a new job. He was even ready to start a new hobby.

Mark felt an invigorating tingle, like a rush of energy. He took out a pen and began to make a list of everything he’d always wanted to do but hadn’t. His apartment, now, was merely a launching pad.
