"Well, isn't this convenient?" said Daniel, a grin splitting his face. He examined the eviction notice with a critical eye, then tossed it casually onto the cluttered coffee table. He was already mentally planning his escape.

He'd been growing tired of the city. The noise, the pollution, the never-ending crush of people - it was all beginning to grate. He'd been craving something different, something… quieter.

He started browsing online, looking at listings in the countryside, his fingers flying over the keyboard. A small cottage, maybe? With a garden? The idea made him want to leap with joy.
