A grin stretched across Amelia’s face as she watched Mr. Henderson’s gardener meticulously prune the rose bushes. The man was always so particular, and the result was always gorgeous. Amelia was on her tiny balcony, sipping instant coffee, and the fragrant morning air seemed to hum with promise. She was starting a new business, a little bakery, and securing a loan had proven to be a challenge. But then she’d seen the gleaming black car, the one that looked like it cost more than her apartment, pull up to Mr. Henderson’s sprawling estate. Maybe, just maybe, this was her chance. She pulled out her phone and began composing a very carefully worded text.
