The scent of brewing coffee wrapped around Amelia as she padded into the living room. Sunlight spilled through the blinds, painting stripes across the dusty bookshelf. She hummed a tuneless melody, the remnants of a dream still clinging to the edges of her mind. Her partner, Liam, was hunched over his laptop, a familiar frown creasing his brow.

“Morning, sleepyhead,” he greeted, a smile tugging at his lips.

Amelia leaned over his shoulder, her arm brushing against his. The screen glowed, displaying a passage she didn't recognize. "Whatcha working on?" she asked, her voice light.

He shifted, his cheeks flushing slightly. "Just… playing around with some ideas." He quickly closed the laptop.

Later, while Liam was at work, she found it again. It was password protected, but she’d guessed the password on the third try: their anniversary. Inside, she found a fictionalized version of her, named Seraphina. Seraphina was brave, funny, and deeply loved. A warmth spread through her chest.
