The shovel felt weightless in David's hands. Mrs. Gable's invitation still echoed in his ears. "I saw your beautiful roses, David, and I was wondering..." He remembered her shy smile. "If I could perhaps borrow a space to grow some herbs."

He'd been thinking of the empty space beside his rose bushes for a long time. Now, the idea of fresh basil and rosemary just steps away set his pulse quickening. With gusto, he began marking off a section of the grass. This would be fantastic!
