Gemotions

A scream caught in her throat. She gripped the book, the pages now seeming to burn her fingers. The author had portrayed her as an eccentric recluse, a label she’d always actively avoided. Now, the world would see her in a carefully constructed, and completely false, light. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes, the familiar sting of tears.

Her vision swam, the room shrinking around her. She was trapped, ensnared by the ink and paper, the words weaving a cage around her. She stumbled to the window, needing to be as far away from the book as possible, and she leaned her forehead against the cool glass.
