The printer spat out the offending review, the paper curling at the edges, a visual representation of how Thomas felt inside. He looked at the words, the harsh judgements, and then at the staff in the kitchen, their faces a mix of anxiety and curiosity. He had failed them. He felt a deep, profound sense of helplessness.

He wanted to scream, to lash out, but he simply couldn't. His jaw was locked. He watched as his sous chef came over, and started to offer words of comfort. Thomas just wanted to be alone.

He turned his back on the kitchen, walked into the pantry, slammed the door, and sank to his knees, his shoulders shaking. The cool, quiet room offered no solace, only a stark reminder of his failure.
