The headline, "The End of an Era?" slammed into Leo like a physical blow. His restaurant, his legacy, was being dismantled, one cutting sentence at a time. He couldn't quite catch his breath. His breath caught in his throat, and he had to sit down.

He sank into a chair in the empty dining room, the elegant tables and chairs mocking his distress. He felt a pressure building behind his eyes. He’d envisioned a different future.

He tried to stand but couldn't seem to muster the strength. He thought of his parents, the sacrifices they had made to help him pursue his dreams. He stared at the review, and felt ashamed.
