The afternoon sun cast long shadows as Leo retrieved the mail. The mailbox rattled as he reached in and grabbed the usual bills, junk mail, and then... it. His breath caught in his throat. He stopped moving. A tremor went through him.

A simple card, covered in bright stars. Inside, nothing. Just a single word, written in elegant calligraphy: "Soon." He felt his pulse quicken, a frantic rhythm against the sudden, oppressive silence of his own backyard. He turned and scanned the fence line, sure someone was watching.
