The pristine white walls of the art gallery now seemed to close in, trapping Liam. He listened, his breath catching in his throat, as another man, also claiming to be James’s “best friend”, described a secret trip to the coast – a trip he, Liam, thought was exclusively theirs. He felt a burning sensation in his throat, a desire to scream that was quickly suppressed. The carefully curated art on the walls blurred, the colors bleeding together. Liam's hand instinctively flew to his chest, as though protecting himself.
