Gemotions

"Oh, crap," muttered Jessica, staring at the invitation lying innocently on her kitchen table. The paper seemed to scream. She sank into a kitchen chair, suddenly drained of energy. Her vision began to tunnel, focusing only on the offending card.

She felt a hot flush rising in her neck, spreading across her face. Her palms were already damp, and her fingers felt cold. She could feel the past rising up to engulf her, with all its awkward teen moments.

She wanted to burn it. Shred it. Make it disappear. But the thought of it made her feel even worse.
