“Reunion. Seriously?” Liam's voice was a strained whisper. He read the invitation, then reread it, his brow furrowed. He felt a sharp pang of dread, as if he'd swallowed something jagged.

He crumpled the paper in his fist, then unclenched his fingers, smoothing it out again. His pulse quickened. He imagined the faces, the conversations, the inevitable comparisons.

He suddenly wanted to disappear, to become invisible, to escape the uncomfortable reality. The idea of attending made him break out in a cold sweat.
