The press release. That's all it took. Sarah felt a cold dread creep into the pit of her stomach, like a serpent coiling itself around her insides. Her carefully organized desk, a testament to her dedication, seemed suddenly worthless. All those years, building her career… for what?

A sudden, dizzying lightheadedness washed over her. She gripped her chair for support, her vision blurring at the edges. The room tilted. This couldn't be happening. She squeezed her eyes shut, wishing she could simply make it all disappear.
