The seconds stretched into an eternity. For Kevin, each tick of time felt like an eternity. He stared at Susan, his coworker, whose normally composed demeanor had completely crumbled. She was breathing shallowly, her eyes darting around the small space. He knew the feeling too well.

He reached for the call button and pressed it repeatedly, the insistent beeping a jarring sound in the silent box. He felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. The air was getting heavy. He felt a deep unease, like an invisible weight pressing down on his chest.

He needed to be outside. He needed air. He imagined the doors staying shut forever. The thought sent another tremor through him.
