Gemotions

“A farm?” I stammered, my voice sounding distant in my own ears. My brother, John, was the beneficiary of the business, the family empire. I was given my grandmother's farm, a small, neglected property. I never even knew the woman.

I drove out there, and the air was heavy with humidity. The house was small and run down, the fields overgrown. I went inside. The furniture was covered in sheets. I pulled one away and jumped back. There were pictures on the wall, showing people with vacant eyes. I backed away, my breath quickening. I felt a prickling sensation all over my skin.
