He saw the article. An interview. *Living with X Condition.* It featured her. The woman. He knew her name. He knew her face now. He felt the blood drain from his own, as his heart began to race. He grabbed the magazine and flung it across the room.

His carefully constructed universe seemed to implode. He paced back and forth, muttering under his breath. He hated this, this shared reality. He felt exposed, vulnerable, and deeply, achingly…wrong. He collapsed onto the couch, covering his face with his hands, as if to shield himself from the world.
