Gemotions

"What the...?" Michael muttered, staring at the cluster of daisies on his desk. He hadn't touched any of them, but felt a growing disquiet. He hadn't asked for flowers. No one had sent him flowers. The office was supposed to be a safe place, but now it wasn't.

He glanced around, suddenly acutely aware of his colleagues, their quiet typing, their casual conversations. A sense of unease settled over him. He felt as if a spotlight had suddenly turned on him.

He reached for his phone, and called the front desk. "Did anyone send me flowers?" He asked. The receptionist's response did nothing to alleviate his dread.
