"This isn't possible," he muttered, his voice barely audible. He knelt beside the excavated time capsule, the contents strewn around him like a scattered puzzle he couldn’t solve. The box, unearthed in his basement, was filled with things from his past. Yet, he had no memory of any of it.

He picked up a cassette tape. A label read "Favorite Songs." He recognized the handwriting, but he didn't know *how*. He found himself staring at a photograph of a woman he had never met, laughing with a joy that stabbed him through with unexpected pain.

He felt the blood drain from his face, leaving him cold. He scrambled backward, bumping into the wall. The air felt thick, difficult to breathe. He wanted to scream, to lash out, to smash something. He pressed a hand to his forehead, feeling the frantic pulse drumming against his fingertips. This was a violation.
