Gemotions

The office was quiet, the only sound the rhythmic ticking of the grandfather clock. David sifted through a pile of papers, the mundane tasks doing little to soothe his nerves. He found it tucked amongst a stack of old bills: a letter, addressed to his ex-wife.

The words were a brutal reflection of his own teenage angst, all complaints and accusations. He saw the same bitterness that had driven them apart. He slammed the paper down on his desk, his jaw clenched.

The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. He felt a sudden, sharp urge to break something, to destroy the evidence of this emotional battlefield. He slammed his fist down on the desk, the impact echoing through the silent office.
