Gemotions

The smell of brewing coffee and the rhythmic whir of the espresso machine filled the kitchen. David stood rigid in the doorway, observing his daughter, Lily, who was meticulously crafting a latte. He didn't speak. Lily had overtaken his passion, his little coffee shop, his obsession with the perfect brew.

He hadn't foreseen this. He had dreamed of sharing his love of coffee, of passing on his knowledge. Instead, he found himself feeling… this way.

"Dad? What do you think?" she asked, presenting him with a latte, perfectly decorated with a delicate leaf design.

He took a sip. The coffee was excellent, the design beautiful. He nodded stiffly. "Good." The word felt like a lie.
