The musty smell of the storage unit felt like a physical assault. Claire, her jaw tight, was tasked with getting rid of her aunt's possessions. It was a hateful task.

She found the letter in a box marked "Important Documents." It was a resignation, short and to the point. The words seemed to jump off the page, mocking her.

She ripped the letter in half. Then into quarters. Then into smaller and smaller pieces. The action provided no relief. No catharsis.
