Gemotions

The apology, written in elegant calligraphy, felt like a slap. I read it, then reread it. I wanted to laugh, but the sound caught in my throat, choking me. My hands started to tremble, and I could feel my skin prickle with heat.

The letter lay on the table, a taunt. I got up, walked to the window, and stared out. The street below was a blur of movement, none of it mattering. I wanted to erase it all, this moment, this letter, *him*.

My fingers clawed at the window pane, and I felt the need to claw at something, anything. I wanted to tear apart the silence.
