Gemotions

The photograph, clutched tight in her hand, blurred with tears. She focused on the missing space, a gaping hole where the willow had once stood. A sense of profound betrayal settled over her. The tree had been her companion, her silent confidante, and now… nothing.

She turned away, the sudden movement causing a sharp pain in her shoulder. She tasted bile in her throat. She gripped the photo tighter, the edges cutting into her skin.

She wanted to burn something, to reduce everything to ashes. The thought, while fleeting, was strangely comforting.
