He found it in the airport bookstore, wedged between celebrity tell-alls. A biography bearing his name, promising an "unvarnished look" at his life. His stomach churned. The cover photo, a candid shot from his college graduation, made his face feel hot. He quickly scanned the first few pages, the words blurring before his eyes. It was all there, the private pain, the youthful mistakes, his failures. He wanted to rip the book to shreds, to erase the very existence of it. He felt suddenly exposed, as if a spotlight had been permanently fixed on him.
