Gemotions

The old, familiar house felt unfamiliar and constricting, and it made him want to explode. His parents' questions, the concerned glances, and the constant offers of assistance were more than he could bear. It was as if they saw him as a child again, incapable and dependent.

He found himself snapping at them, the words sharp and stinging. He regretted it immediately, but the damage was done. The guilt, however, was overshadowed by a tidal wave of anger that threatened to consume him.

He was going to get a job, and he was going to get his own place. He just needed to figure out how to do it. He turned away from the thought and sank into the couch, the same one he had watched TV on when he was a kid. He felt so defeated that it was like a black hole within him, sucking the light from everything, a darkness that he knew he wouldn't be able to escape for a long while.
