Gemotions

The librarian's smile, usually so warm and welcoming, now felt like a taunt. Amelia, a library regular, felt a sudden urge to flee, to disappear into the stacks and never be seen again. She'd been called in for a meeting, and the accusation hung in the air like a noxious fume.

She fumbled with her backpack, her fingers clumsy and unresponsive. She felt as though she were being physically constricted, held in a vise. Her vision swam slightly, and she felt a wave of nausea crash over her.

"We need to discuss this,” the librarian had said gently, but Amelia couldn't focus on the specifics. Every shadow in the room felt like an accusing finger. The carefully constructed facade of her academic life was crumbling.
