The campus newspaper, with his name splashed across the front page. That was how it started. He had always been so careful, so precise. Now, everyone knew. John felt a cold dread creeping through his bones. The accusations had become public knowledge.

He avoided eye contact with everyone he passed. The library, his sanctuary, now seemed hostile and full of judgment. His friends, once so supportive, now seemed to avoid him.

He felt the weight of every disapproving glance. His hands were clammy, and his legs trembled. He skipped lunch, unable to face the stares in the cafeteria. He felt as though he were trapped in a dark, inescapable maze.
