"But… I’m allergic to peanuts," Clara stammered, her voice thin, a mere whisper in the sterile examination room. Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her cardigan, pulling it tighter and tighter. The doctor blinked, glancing back at the computer screen.

“That’s… unusual,” he said finally, his brow furrowed. The sheer absurdity of the situation threatened to overwhelm her. The idea of accidentally eating peanuts, of nearly dying due to the mistake… It was too much.

She wanted the ground to open and swallow her whole. The polite questions, the pitying looks, were like needles pricking at her skin. She had never felt so exposed.
