The email notification popped up, the words "Team Selection Results" burning on her phone screen. Amelia's fingers trembled as she tapped the message open. Her heart hammered against her ribs, each beat a frantic drum.

The list of names swam before her eyes. She scrolled, her breath catching in her throat. No. She looked again, meticulously scanning the roster. Still nothing. A coldness spread through her, a creeping paralysis that stole the ability to breathe.
