Rain lashed against the windows of Emilia’s restaurant, mirroring the storm brewing inside her. She stared at the review on her phone screen, the words blurring through her tears. The critic had called her signature risotto "an insult to rice."

She excused herself from the small gathering she was hosting. Back in her office, she kicked the wastebasket across the room. Her carefully curated collection of cookbooks, usually a source of comfort, suddenly felt like a judgment. The critic had specifically targeted her grandmother’s recipe, the one she'd inherited and cherished.

Later that evening, the staff nervously cleared the plates. Emilia couldn't bring herself to speak. Her usual boisterous laughter was gone, replaced by a tight-lipped silence.
