A sour taste rose in Claire's throat. She'd been looking forward to a concert date with "Daniel," but as she entered the venue, she saw him, laughing, with another woman. The woman, with a familiar dark bob, was the same woman who'd been texting her for weeks.

She felt a hollowness in her chest, a profound sense of wrongness. The energy of the crowd, the flashing lights, the anticipation for the music - it all became a blur. She clutched her bag to her chest, feeling suddenly vulnerable and exposed. She wanted to be invisible.

She quickly turned away and ran toward the exit, needing to get as far away from the situation as possible.
