The auctioneer's voice boomed through the inherited dining room as he began calling out bids for the antique furniture. Liam stood beside his sister, Beth, as they watched their inheritance be dissected for profit. Beth was a practical woman; her eyes were on the bottom line. He, on the other hand, had a sentimental attachment to the family heirlooms. He felt a lump form in his throat as the auctioneer declared the price to be the starting bid.
