Gemotions

The brightly colored flyer felt like a brand on his skin. Daniel slammed his fist on the table, scattering the mail. His breath came in ragged bursts. Why now? Why did this have to happen now?

He stalked back and forth in his tiny apartment, the linoleum floor creaking beneath his feet. The weight of his unfulfilled potential pressed down on him, crushing. He'd envisioned so much more for himself.

He paused in front of the window, peering out at the bustling street below. The faces blurred into a meaningless mass. He felt utterly alone, isolated. He could feel the familiar tightening in his chest. A cold sweat broke out on his forehead. The thought of being confronted by the lives he wasn't living left him paralyzed.
