The elevator doors opened, and the stale air of the office lobby hit Clara like a physical blow. Michael was recounting his escapades at Camp Timberwood, and the details were remarkably similar to hers. The awkward talent show dance routine, the disastrous attempt at building a raft, everything.

"I remember this girl, she tried to sing a Celine Dion song…" he trailed off. "God, it was terrible."

Clara swallowed hard, the muscles in her throat constricting. That Celine Dion song...that was her. She could feel the stares of the other employees, the silent judgment. She quickly pushed past him, muttering something about a meeting, and fled into the relative safety of the hallway.
