Gemotions

The cookbook was a labor of love. She had spent years perfecting the recipes, capturing them in beautiful photographs. She had finally gotten her publishing deal, and now, at the book launch, she found her life’s work diminished. The other author, a fresh, young face, had a book that was essentially a carbon copy.

She took a deep breath, trying to look composed as the other author signed books. The room blurred. She noticed her hand was shaking as she held a glass of water.

She excused herself from the event, making a quick, barely audible goodbye. She felt as though she’d been stripped of everything. She felt empty.
