Gemotions

He stared at the contents of the opened container with a sick feeling churning in his stomach. The faded photograph showed him, maybe twenty, attempting to look cool while holding a skateboarding trophy. It was an awkward, stiff pose, and his attempt at a smug expression looked more like constipation. Beside it, a cassette tape labelled “My Deepest Thoughts.” He closed his eyes, recalling the poetry he'd written, the angst-ridden lyrics, the pretentious pronouncements of his younger self. His ears burned. He wanted to chuck it all back in the ground, pretend he never saw it.
