The tiny, cramped apartment felt smaller. Claire stared at the list, her heart thudding a frantic rhythm against her ribs. Among the expected entries – "See the Northern Lights," "Learn to speak Italian" – was "Have a passionate affair with someone wild and unpredictable." The words seemed to leap off the page and claw at her.
