The dogeared pages of the notebook, found buried in the back of a drawer, felt like an accusation in Ben's hands. He read, his jaw tightening with each entry. "Learn to surf," "Become a chef," and, nestled between them, "Leave everything behind and travel the world."

The words sliced through the air, their sharpness a cruel contrast to the soft, familiar feel of the house. He felt the blood drain from his face. His carefully constructed life, his routines, his ambitions, suddenly felt like shackles.

He began pacing the living room, a restless energy coursing through him. He couldn’t sit still, couldn't breathe. The air felt thin, the walls closing in.
