The anticipation had been almost unbearable. He'd poured his heart out to "PixelPrincess," the online artist who'd become his confidante, and she’d hinted that she lived nearby, so they decided to meet for lunch. But when he saw her, across the restaurant, she was with another man, laughing, their fingers entwined. He felt a searing sensation in his chest. She glanced at him, a flicker of something in her eyes, before she turned her face away. He felt the blood drain from his face and the warmth from his soul.
