Gemotions

The fluorescent lights cast a harsh glow on the training room. He watched as the new hire, Ben, listened attentively to everything he was saying. His name was Thomas, and he had been at the company for over 10 years. Now, he was teaching Ben.

He spoke robotically, his voice devoid of any inflection. His shoulders felt heavy, his chest constricted. He deliberately omitted some of the more complex aspects of the job, keeping the information superficial.

Later, at home, he sat alone in the living room, staring out the window, watching the streetlights come on one by one. He couldn't shake the feeling of being… diminished.
