“I don’t want to go,” Daniel muttered, pushing his plate of scrambled eggs away. The news about Mr. Davies, his son's new teacher, had left him feeling out of sorts. It felt like being trapped in a maze. He had wanted a different start for his son, a fresh path unburdened by the echoes of his own childhood.

He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture of frustration. Mr. Davies, with his rigid rules and unforgiving nature, had been the bane of Daniel’s existence. He remembered the constant disappointment, the feeling of being perpetually reprimanded.

His appetite vanished. He forced a smile as his wife and son left for school, but once they were gone, the walls seemed to close in. The house felt empty and unfamiliar.
