“Daniel Brooks sent you a friend request.” The words seemed to jump off the screen at Kevin. He involuntarily recoiled, as if from a physical blow. He rubbed his eyes. His vision blurred.

He thought of the locker room, the taunts, the humiliation. A sour taste coated his mouth. He felt the phantom pain of every push, every shove.

He leaned back in his chair, trying to steady his breathing. He hadn't thought about Daniel in years. Why now? Why did he have to resurface? He closed his eyes.
