Gemotions

A tremor ran through David’s hands as he walked into the dorm. Michael was at his desk, but David's journal was nowhere to be seen. Then, he noticed the subtle tilt of Michael's head, the way he avoided eye contact. A sinking feeling began to spread in his chest.

“Everything okay, man?” Michael asked, a forced casualness to his tone.

David managed a weak nod. He felt a throbbing ache behind his eyes. He went to his bed and sat heavily, his breath catching in his throat.

The unspoken accusation hung between them, a heavy weight in the already cramped room.
