His hands trembled as he reread the email, the words blurring. He paced his room, the linoleum cold beneath his bare feet. The walls, once a comfort, now felt like they were closing in. He stared at a faded photograph on his desk, a picture of him with his parents, their smiles now seeming…false.

He grabbed his worn leather jacket, the familiar weight a small comfort, and stormed out, needing to be far away, needing to be anywhere.
