Gemotions

The dog, a rambunctious husky, had escaped and was digging up the prize-winning petunias. Thomas felt a prickling heat under his skin, as if he were being slowly burnt. He'd put so much work into the garden, especially after his wife had passed last year.

He clenched his fists so tightly his nails bit into his palms. The frustration, the ache of it, made him want to cry out.

He took a deep breath, willing himself to calm down. He should say something, but the words wouldn't come. He just wanted to be left alone.
