"There's been a mistake," the advisor said, the words echoing in Leo's ears. He could feel his face burning. The scholarship, the reason he could afford this school, was never his to begin with. The student whose name belonged on the paperwork had been found. His entire world felt as if it had been built on quicksand.

He excused himself quickly, his voice barely a whisper. Outside, the midday sun felt harsh, almost mocking. He found himself walking aimlessly towards the university's sprawling gardens, seeking solace in the vibrant green. But the beauty held no sway.
